With the controversy surrounding Joe Rogan, more musicians are pulling their music from Spotify. This is leading to some listeners considering moving to alternative streaming services. There are many options, including Apple Music and Tidal. But Rivers Cuomo has added his own app, Weezify.

“Tired of Spotify”The Weezer frontman WriteFollow us on Twitter. “Come on over to Weezify.” The only catch with Cuomo’s venture is that when he created the app last year, he filled it with the more than 3,200 demos he recorded between 1975 and 2017 — and nothing else.

Similarly to Spotify’s interface, Weezify offers a number of curated playlists for users to follow, or they can create their own. The library is divided into 12 different bundles, separated by era. For instance, there’s “Weezma,”It holds demos from the California band Ozma, which were recorded between 2012-2014. “Patrick & Rivers,”This site features music by Patrick Wilson, Weezer drummer, between 1991 and 2012.

Each bundle costs $9 and can be purchased and played through Weezify. That’s less than a monthly Spotify subscription. Weezify is also an outgrowth of a tech project Cuomo started in 2020. He was selling bundles with old demos on a digital marketplace.

Weezify is here as Weezer plan their new seasonal album cycle in four parts. “Spring is kind of like happy chill. And then we move through to dance rock, like a Strokes-style album for the fall, and then sad acoustic, Elliott Smith-style for winter,” Cuomo told Good Morning AmericaThe project plans to release a new release every day throughout the year.
