The “NFL on CBS”Halftime of today’s AFC Championship game between the Cincinnati Bengals & Kansas City Chiefs was a great opportunity for broadcast crew to provide brilliant insight.

It was almost impossible to hear the words they spoke. That’s because the halftime show music from country artist Walker Hayes overpowered the sound levels in the broadcast booth.

The massive speakers used for the Hayes Show at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City were placed right behind the mobile screen where the CBS analysts were pontificating. It was almost impossible to hear any of the statements made by James Brown, Boomer Esiason, Nate Burleson, Bill Cowher and Nate Cowher.

At one point, Esiason said: “I didn’t hear anything you just said.”

Part of the blame lies with the network. Halftime analysis is broadcast from a New York studio, which can control sound and lighting. The playoffs have the analyst on-site, but this is a tradition.

Simms was able to see the humor in the situation via his Twitter account. Simms posted the following GIF: “Please be quiet, I’m talking now.”
