RUSSELL WILKINS is once again in the news, thanks to Pete Carroll, his former head coach.
In a recent radio interview, Seattle Seahawks coach Carroll seemed to make a dig at Wilson, his former starting quarterback, when he discussed the play of Geno Smith, current starter, in an indirect dig.
Speak to Seattle Sports 710Carroll stated: “If Geno’s not on the wristband, that’s a huge help.
“It’s smoothed things out, sped things up, cleaned things up. And that’s part of it, too. We never did that before. There was resistance to that, so we didn’t do that before.”
Carroll was referring to exactly who or what “resistance”Although it is not known what Wilson means, many believe that it does.
Wilson quickly responded, admitting Wednesday that he does not know what Carroll said but that he did know that they won many games without one.
“I didn’t know winning or losing mattered if you wore a wristband or not. But I think, do whatever it takes to make sure that we’re rolling and moving and everything else. A few times I’ve definitely worn a wristband depending on the game plan and what we have called and all that stuff.”
Wilson’s reaction was not well received by the fans.
One comment: “Sadly, Russ needs a new PR person. He has to know that people dislike him and being smug isn’t helping.”
Another one: “Thanks for asking this on camera! He seems to be a little guarded about the subject if you ask me. It would honestly help and it’s not a bad thing for a QB to have and reference in the heat of the moment”
One responded: “And we never will have to know…because we yeeted his a** to a faraway mountaintop.”
Wilson will have an opportunity to silence doubters when his 3-5 Broncos take on the 503 Tennessee Titans in Nashville on Sunday.
