New EasyJet Route: Liverpool to Malta Service Launching Soon
EasyJet is set to launch a year-round service connecting Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport to the beautiful island of Malta starting this December. The airline will offer flights on Tuesdays and Sundays, providing locals with a convenient travel option to this popular Mediterranean destination.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport Aviation Director Paul Winfield expressed excitement about the new route, highlighting the potential for growth. Currently, only 9% of all flights from the north-west to Malta operate from Liverpool, indicating a significant opportunity for expansion. Challenges Faced by EasyJet
Despite the positive news about the new route, EasyJet has faced challenges in the past year. The airline confirmed losses of £80 million due to the conflict in Gaza and escalating tensions across the Middle East. Following the Hamas terror attack on October 7, EasyJet discontinued flights to Israel and Jordan, resulting in significant financial setbacks. Additionally, the carrier reported a £40 million loss from cancellations and decreased bookings in the region due to passenger apprehensions about traveling to certain destinations.
Expansion Plans and Future Prospects
In a bid to mitigate losses and drive growth, EasyJet and other carriers are launching new routes and expanding their operations. Jet2, for example, announced the introduction of six new flights from Birmingham Airport to popular European destinations. The new routes cover a range of Alpine and mountainous regions in France, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy, catering to holidaymakers seeking diverse travel experiences.
