Many individuals were detained by the police, while charges are pending. Lauren Spivey gave an eyewitness account of what triggered the event. She stated that the docking process of a riverboat was impeded by a smaller vessel.

The heated debate began when a black employee asked the white boat owner to move the boat. A heated confrontation ensued after the black employee requested that the boat move to accommodate the riverboat.

Spivey Shared with CNN The riverboat guests waited about 30 to 40 minutes before touching the boat that was blocking their view. However, no one in the small boat offered any assistance. This altercation became more violent as the white male pushed and punched the employee. Other people from the boat then joined the assault, leaving him on the floor.

Spivey expressed her amazement by pointing out the “entitlement”, displayed by the people in the boat who attacked the worker, and returned nonchalantly to their vessel, without even attempting to get off. She recalled, “They got on their small boats there as if nothing had happened. “And the Harriott keeps coming slowly in, sideways. So they can dock.”

Finally, the riverboat docked and sparked another brawl with the people from the small vessel. Video footage showed punches and chair attacks, as well as individuals being thrown into the water.

Spivey predicted the escalating chaos as the riverboat approached the dock, saying, “I knew once that boat hit that dock … all hell was gonna break loose.” Violence continued along the dock with people throwing punches and even knocking one person into the water.

A second video shows a violent attack nearby on a man and woman who appear to be both white. The attackers used a folding chairs.

Police finally arrived to put an end to the chaos. Montgomery mayor Steven L. Reed said that justice will be done and that anyone who attacked the riverboat employee could face legal penalties. Due to the groups involved, the incident raised questions about possible racial aspects. However, it is unclear whether racial motivations were the cause of the fight.

Montgomery, known for its civil rights history, was the scene of previous viral fights. In a similar incident involving females, an explosive fight broke out on the floor of a Las Vegas casino earlier.
