Netflix’s ad supported plan launches November 3rd at $7 per month

Netflix shocked the streaming world on Thursday by confirming its price and releasing the date for its ad-supported plans. Netflix will announce its next-generation streaming service next month. “Basic with Ads”The tier will be $6.99 per month in the US. Officially, the plan will be available November 3rd at 9 a.m. PST. The plan will be available in Australia and Brazil as well as France, Germany (Italy), Germany, Japan, Koreas, Mexico, Spain, and the UK.

Netflix claimsThe Basic with Ads plan is available “all the features people expect from Netflix’s Basic plan,”You can watch a variety of movies and shows, access on many smart devices, and cancel or change your plan at any moment.

There are also some notable differences. For the Basic with Ads plan, the video quality maxes out at 720p, you’ll see an average of 4 to 5 minutes of ads per hour, some movies and shows won’t be available due to licensing restrictions, and you can’t download titles.

Netflix listed some reasons Basic with Ads is exciting for advertisers.

  • Ad Format: Adverts will be between 15 and 30 seconds long at launch. These ads will play during and before films and TV shows.
  • Advertiser Controls: To help advertisers reach the right audience — and ensure our ads are more relevant for consumers — we’ll offer broad targeting capabilities by country and genre (e.g. action, drama, romance, sci-fi). There is still plenty that we don’t know about Netflix’s new plan, but we won’t have to wait long to see it in action. Netflix’s new ad free Basic, Standard, Premium and Premium plans will still be available at the same price as they were earlier in the year.
