While video game adaptations are often less successful than they are hit, Netflix has a remarkable track record. Castlevania, Arcane, and, most recently Cyberpunk: EdgerunnersEach was able to satisfy the fans of the games that they were based on and find new fans. CD Projekt Red decided to cancel the show despite its stellar ratings and viewership numbers. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners won’t be returning for season 2.
There is no Cyberpunk: EdgerunnersSeason 2
A recent interview was conducted with FamitsuTranslation by VGCSatoru Honma (CD Projekt Red community manager) explained that there had never been any plans to add seasons. Cyberpunk: EdgerunnersIt was a standalone story with a definitive end.
“I personally would like to continue to work with Japanese studios to produce more anime in the future, partly because we have received very good feedback,”Honma spoke.
“Just to be clear, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was planned as a standalone work, so there’s no such thing as ‘we are actually working on Season 2 in the background,’”In response to a question on a sequel, he replied. “Even if we could make more anime in the future, I don’t know if it would be Season 2 or something completely different.”
While it doesn’t seem like CD Projekt Red has permanently ruled out Cyberpunk: Edgerunners season 2, there isn’t another season in development right now.

The series will disappoint fans, but not all series need multiple seasons. Additionally, many of the video game adaptations available on Netflix have already been run for more than one episode or are currently in production. Arcane?, League of Legends show, will be back with a second season, and it’s one of our most anticipated returning shows.
