M. Night Shyamalan Reveals Why Guardians Of The Galaxy’s Dave Bautista Was The Right Person To Lead His Next Film

Many moviegoers may recognize Dave Bautista. Drax, the Destroyer Guardians of the GalaxyHowever, the ex-prowler is far from a one trick pony. M. Night Shyamalan seems to believe so. The acclaimed director knew Bautista was the man for the job when he began his casting search for his next movie project. He didn’t waste time and brought him aboard.

Interview with The Hollywood ReporterM. Night Shyamalan explained the reasons behind Dave Bautista’s casting in his next film, which will be titled Knock at The Cabin. Apparently Blade Runner 2049It had to do with it, as the director said:

Was Denis’s work really captivating? [Villeneuve]Dave did it in Blade Runner. He was still in a powerful way. There’s a type of stillness where you’re not doing nothing; you’re doing everything and you’re still. Your essence of what you’re thinking is coming off your body. Actors are always told that I can shoot their backs. You can see the back of Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. I thought that the moment I saw his back I thought. ‘I’m seeing one of the greatest performances ever.’ I could see it just from the way he was standing. Every cell in your body will do what it’s supposed to do if you’re thinking something correctly. So don’t just be blank. It is important to think about it.

No one can argue that Dave Bautista doesn’t have a strong presence. Despite his acting skills, Bautista is a strong actor. His career began as a WWE wrestler. He quickly became a star outside the ring, with his comedic performances in blockbuster movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy. But, it was His dramatic turn in Blade Runner 2049This made him a popular choice for critics and fans alike. Bautista demonstrated a high level of spatial awareness and physicality, which many actors are willing to pay a lot of money to acquire at theatre school. M. Night Shyamalan was struck by this ability to embody stillness. The filmmaker explained that:

Don’t show me anything because your body is going to show me. And Dave was embodying all of this philosophy in that scene, and I thought he was a really unusual person because he is who he is and he’s that big. I didn’t know who he was at that time, and he stuck in my head. I was so excited when the script arrived. ‘There seems to be one guy who can play this giant human being and do the stillness.’So I asked Dave.

Dave Bautista agreed, and the rest is history. Although he starred in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, Knock at The CabinBautista will be able to take on a dramatic role, and will continue to solidify his reputation as a star in the entertainment business. So far, he’s been the only actor to this project.
