Naomi’s Exhibition at V&A South Kensington

Naomi Campbell, who grew up in South London, was promoting her upcoming Victoria & Albert museum exhibition. The one of a kind exhibition, titled NAOMI: In Fashion, will take place at the V&A South Kensington from Saturday 22 June 2024 to Sunday 6th April 2025. The event will showcase her phenomenal collaborative work with leading international designers, photographers, and activism which has impacted the world and creative industry globally.

Naomi’s Early Life

Naomi grew up in the London Borough of Lambeth, around the areas of Brixton and Streatham in South London. She was raised by Jamaican-born dancer Valerie Morris, 72. Throughout the years, Naomi has visited many of her pre-stardom stomping grounds, including paying a visit to South London state secondary school, Elmgreen School, to inspire students on how to overcome rejection back in 2019. Naomi proudly said: “This is a very emotional award to receive.” She continued: “I spend so much of my life in different parts of the world, that people often forget I’m from Brixton, I am a South London girl.”

Naomi’s Fashion Impact

The fashion star started her career in the early 80s and would go on to grace the cover of over 500 magazines. The next decade would see the South London star become one of the modeling world’s Big 5, alongside fellow 90s supermodels. While Naomi still frequently struts across catwalks worldwide, she has turned her focus to being a voice for marginalized communities within the fashion world. In 2013, Naomi, alongside Iman Abdulmajid and Bethann Hardison, formed Balance Diversity, addressing the alleged lack of racial diversity within the modeling industry.

Naomi’s Personal Life

In May 2021, Naomi shocked social media when she announced the birth of her daughter. In June 2023, she announced the birth of her son through surrogacy. Naomi recently confirmed in an interview with The Times that she welcomed both of her children through surrogacy. She said: “My babies are everything to me. They are 110 percent my priority. I have to be there for them on their first day at school.”
