NORTH Korean dictator Kim Jong-un has been testing weapons as the leader ramps up the country’s production capabilities.

The ruthless leader of the communist country has been touring some of the country’s major weapons factories between Thursday and Saturday.

KCNA’s state news agency reported on Sunday that the production lines included engines for missiles, unmanned aircraft and cruise missiles.

Kim also inspected factories producing shells for super large-calibre multiple rocket launchers and transporter-erector-launchers, which are normally used to fire ballistic missiles, according to the report.

KCNA stated that he had given instructions to the factories on how they could increase their production capabilities as part of a major effort to improve the defence capability of the country.

KCNA reported that Kim, while inspecting the munitions plant, noted improvements in precision processing and automation of the large-calibre multi rocket launcher shell production.

North Korea tested advanced cruise missiles, rocket launchers capable of larger caliber shells as well as its newest missiles. These included the solid fuel intercontinental ballistic (ICBM) missile.

Kim called on the mass production of “various types of cutting edge strategic weapon engines… thereby making a significant contribution in bringing about a new revolution in developing strategic weapons of a our style,” KCNA stated.

Kim’s visits to several arms manufacturing facilities on consecutive days are unusual, but they come at a time when the country is pushing to develop numerous conventional and strategic weapons. Recent prominent displays have also shown a wide range of weapons.

The 70th Anniversary of the End of the Korean War was marked by a large military parade in late July. It featured the latest nuclear missiles, attack drones, and spying devices. Senior officials from Beijing, Moscow, and Russia were present, including Sergei Shoigu, the Russian Defence Minister.

Four new drones have been towed by military vehicles through Kim Il Sung Square as a chilling message to the West.

KCNA said that several new spy and attack drones also flew over in a display of strength.

According to reports, the missiles Hwasong-17 and Hwasong-18 were also on display.

It is thought that they can strike anywhere within the United States.

North Korea held an exhibition of missiles, including ballistic ones. Kim also gave Shoigu the tour.

North Korea has been accused by the United States of providing weapons to Russia in its conflict with Ukraine. This includes a “significant number” of artillery rounds, and a shipment to a private Russian military firm, Wagner Group, of infantry missiles.

Russia as well as North Korea both denied these claims.

Experts have also warned that a conflict with North Korea would be one of the most bloody in history, if Kim used his arsenals of chemical and nuke weapons.

The leader has also been launching a flurry of missile tests as he steps up weapon trials.
