Original post by TikTok user Jaephens. She stated that she would often buy three seats in a row rather than a first-class ticket because it was less expensive but offered just as much space.
She explained it in Her video: “Buying 3 seats in coach to sleep cuz it’s still cheaper than a first class flight.”
Kat, however, responded in her Your videoThis is not something you should do.
She said to her followers, “Yeah, this doesn’t really work.”
People would purchase extra seats, but if the flight is full and there are standing passengers, the gate agent will give them that seat. If there is no physical body in that particular seat, they will not allow people to buy it.
“So I would probably not do this.”
Her video was viewed by more than 660k people on TikTok. Many were shocked that it would still be possible.
One person said: “This should be illegal, they shouldn’t be allowed to sell seats they don’t have, and if you buy seats you should get them.”
Another one: “That’s so unfair.”
Others were not sympathetic – one person stated: “Honestly good. don’t buy more than necessary.”
Air New Zealand is the only airline that allows such a policy.
