Neuroscientist Robert Love (@robertwblove) shares tips and tricks online to help people improve their memory and way of life.

In a TikTok video, he shared three popular foods that play a role in mental and physical aging.

First, he revealed that soda plays a negative role in the aging process and why it is bad for you.

“Soda has a lot of sugar in it and no fiber, and so when you drink it it spikes your blood sugar really high,” Robert explained.

It accelerates aging because it speeds up weight gain and produces inflammation in the body, which is one of the primary causes of aging.

The second food is a “double whammy” and a favorite for many people – french fries.

According to him, they are high in salt which in excess dehydrates you.

“Dehydration is one of the primary causes of premature aging of the skin, of wrinkling, and so forth,” he added. “You want to make sure that you’re well hydrated.”

In addition, since french fries are deep fried in oil at high heat, it can create something called AGEs.

Accumulated AGEs may also contribute to structural and functional deficits in tissues during aging.

The last food he advised in another video to stay away from was hot dogs, which was a “real surprise” to him.

“Hot dogs have preservatives in them that dehydrate you and dehydrate the skin,” he said.

The comment sections had conflicting opinions about Robert’s dietary advice.

“Never drank soda in my life and no fried foods. I’m 64 and have no lines yet. I’ve been told I look in my 40s,” a viewer shared.

“I eat fries every day,” another admitted, while a TikTok user divulged that they “looove french fries.”

Someone else wrote that he “Just ruined my day pal.”
