Idris Elba and James Bond have been synonymous with each other for over a decade with fans wanting him to be Daniel Craig’s successor. Elba’s interview has always included the Bond question, as moviegoers are constantly hyping him up. The actor seemed tired of being asked the same questions over and over again. After many years of being questioned, the actor finally gave up. Beast Star was open about being constantly asked about his role as the beloved international spy.

IdrisElba avoided the 007 factor by increasing his upcoming Luther movie. The actor avoided the topic and was then asked if he was tired hearing these questions. After years of speculation, Idris Elba said he didn’t have any more answers. He said:
I don’t have any more information. I simply tell people. ‘aw, don’t ask me that.’ Because a lot of times it’s really lazy journalism. People try to make it clickbait. ‘what’s he gonna say this time?’ I try to say the same things. Every now and then I just tease them, but every now and then I’ll give them some philosophy on why I don’t want to do it or why it’s a rumor. It’s not something I talk about often.
His words shouldn’t be too surprising as he finally gave up on his 007 hopes by announcing the feature adaptation of the BBC drama. Idris Elba would either entertain or ignore the rumors, despite being done with the questions. He now seems to be in control of the whole thing, even the rumored talks. So Elba seemingly doesn’t want to hear about James Bond anymore.

Elba felt Luther’s big screen outing will be a great entry point into a film series as he teased the character expanding into international waters in the future. Giving up on a 007 future may be in Elba’s best interest as new James Bond rumors may have him along with Henry Cavill and Tom Hardy out of the running for the role. Eon Productions was reported to be looking for someone younger than 007. So, names like Regé-Jean Page and Aidan Turner appear to have better odds now if the rumors are true. As Bond producers had hinted earlier in the year that they were still talking to Elba regarding the spy franchise, this speculation was a significant shift. Others were eagerly awaiting the news. James Bond being out of the picture, it seemed that the MCU star had moved on to other projects.
