He recommends that you not leave valuables such as jewellery or money out open, particularly if your hotel is not the best.

He advised that it is best to conceal objects when you leave them at your accommodation.

He said that he had told the Express“Leaving valuables in a hotel is not always the best option, especially if it is a low-category hotel.

“For this reason, it is highly recommended to hide things inside the room itself, with the aim of not leaving all our money in sight or things of value.”

He explained that he places valuables in containers or other unlikely places, such as an empty shampoo bottle, so they are difficult to find by potential room raiders.

He said: “One of the most common travel tips is to hide money or jewellery in an empty shampoo bottle. In the same way, inside the suitcase itself, you can have hidden pockets where it is possible to hide larger objects.”

Toni also suggested hiding items under the mattress, but Toni advised that you place them in the middle of your bed.

These tips will help you to avoid losing sentimental and important items.

A recent study revealed that 25 percent of people have lost jewellery while travelling or on vacation.

This could lead to the end of a vacation, especially if it was personal.

One of the most important things to do is check it is insured either through travel insurance or home insurance.

You can protect it even though you have it with you. There are many ways to destroy it.

Hatton Jewellers Robert Cuomo toldMail Onlinehis top advice earlier this year, including the damage that can be caused by suncream, chlorine and the sea.

He explained that you should ensure that your suncream is completely absorbed before applying jewellery.

Swimming is a dangerous activity because chlorine can damage precious metals and cause them to become weaker. Contact with chlorine can cause silver to tarnish.

“Swimming in the sea is also far from ideal, as saltwater can erode your jewellery, which can lead to weakening.”

Another thing that can happen while on holiday is? You open your suitcase to find all your bracelets and necklaces are tangled.

Travellers have shared their top tips for avoiding this from happening.

Some say the best way to avoid this is to use seven-day pill boxes to put jewellery in, to avoid it tangling together.

Others suggest threading necklaces through straws to keep them untangled.

A flight attendant used something called Press ‘n’ Seal – similar to cling film – and putting it over necklaces stops them from getting tangled in the suitcase.
