Parker Schnabel, Tony Beets and others have been associated with “Gold Rush”, but another was conspicuously missing for most of its last season. Rick Ness bowed out of mining for “Gold Rush” Season 13, but there was an episode where Zee Zaremba visits him to see what’s going on. Ness says that the previous season was draining and his mental health had been affected by the death of his mother. The Season 14 Trailer ends with Schnabel, Beets, and Ness standing to one side, Ness wearing a suit, while also putting his trademark cap on.
The press release for this year’s season hinted that it could be “the show’s make-or-break” season. Schnabel is at a crossroads at whether to go all-in: “He must decide whether to play it safe and scale back his operation or risk it all on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire historically gold-rich virgin ground.” Beets is aiming to break his previous records and acquire 6,000 ounces in gold during this season. Ness, meanwhile, is looking to redeem himself by getting back in the saddle.
