Kelly Hyland, from the hit show Dance Moms, recently revealed details about her battle with breast cancer. In an exclusive interview with E! News, she shared her experience and emphasized the importance of self-examinations.
Recognizing the Signs and Seeking Medical Help
Kelly Hyland first became suspicious when she experienced significant weight loss without any changes in her diet or lifestyle. Concerned by this sudden change, she decided to investigate further. After discovering a lump on her breast, she immediately scheduled a mammogram. Despite receiving clean results from a previous test just eight months earlier, this time the results indicated a mass. Subsequent tests confirmed that Kelly was dealing with carcinoma stage 1, grade 3 – a fast-moving form of breast cancer.
Facing the Reality and Sharing the News with Family
Upon receiving her diagnosis, Kelly faced the challenging task of informing her three children, who are located in different states. Despite the distance, she made sure to communicate with all of them simultaneously via a four-way call. This process was emotionally difficult for her children, with Paige sensing immediately that something was wrong. In contrast, Brooke found solace in physically being with her mother, finding strength and reassurance in her presence.
Looking Ahead and Maintaining Positivity
Currently, Kelly is undergoing her second round of chemotherapy, with four more sessions left. Following this treatment, she will undergo surgery, radiation, and additional chemotherapy sessions. Despite the tough road ahead, Kelly remains optimistic about her recovery, buoyed by the love and support of her family.
