BTS fans are having the best time decoding the meaning of RM’s solo album Indigo. After waiting for months, BigHit Music has finally confirmed the date of RM’s solo album release and here’s all you need to know about it.
Namjoon aka the leader of BTS had earlier released his mixtape Mono in 2018 which peaked at number 26 on the US Billboard 200 and became the highest-charting album (that time) by a Korean soloist in chart history.
Along with its commercial success, RM’s Mono was critically hailed by international publications as a therapeutic study of mental health where MTVIt was called “equal parts wistful and weary, and the theme of loneliness is constant throughout” Vulture noted that the album was “free therapy (for) your body, soul, and bank account collectively.”
Meaning of RM’s solo album Indigo
Fans have various theories regarding the meaning of RM’s solo album title Indigo.
Indigo is the color between blue and purple, and purple is BTS’ official color while Namjoon once said that blue is the color that suits him the best. So Indigo can be a nod to indicate the connection between Namjoon’s persona and his bond with BTS.
Another theory suggests that Namjoon has always had a penchant to play with Korean letters and Indigo in Korean is 남색, 남 Like in Namjoon (남준) and 색 means color. So, Namjoon’s album Indigo could mean “Nam’s color.”
