Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton, and Daphne Zuniga Return to Melrose Place

More than 30 years since the popular drama, Melrose Place, premiered, Deadline confirms that a revival is in the works at CBS Studios. Currently, the revival is being shopped around to networks and streamers, starring three of the show’s original cast members, Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton, and Daphne Zuniga. According to Deadline, the revived series will follow our favorite characters from the original. Moreover, the story will pick up when the former neighbors and friends reunite to honor one of their friends who has suddenly died.

A summary for the series reads: “The pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

The series was originally created by Darren Star as a spinoff of Beverly Hills, 90210. Its storyline followed a group of residents in an apartment courtyard complex in West Hollywood, California. The show went on to run for seven seasons on Fox – from 1992 to 1999.

About the Cast of the New Melrose Place

Heather Locklear, 62, plays Amanda Woodward, who first appeared in season 1 in a guest role. However, she became a series regular in season 2, although she was still billed as a “special guest star” for the rest of the show’s run. Laura Leighton, 55, also started in Melrose Place as a guest star in the show’s first two seasons and was upgraded to a series regular in season 3. Leighton plays Sydney Andres. Daphne Zuniga returns in her role as Jo Reynolds. Fans may remember that in 2009, CBS Studios aired a revival series on The CW, with no characters and cameos from Locklear, Leighton, and Zuniga. However, the reboot only lasted for one season. Let’s hope the latest revival is successful for fans.
