Zeta Jones’ and Michael Douglas’ age difference is the source of frustration in tabloids. The Ocean’s TwelveStar was born in 1969 and Douglas in 1944. They were both born coincidentally on September 25, just 25 years apart. He’s effectively old enough to be her father.

Larry King asked her about their early years together and what she thought about the age gap. King’s wife, Shawn Southwick, was 26 years younger than him. He stated “it works, though right?”Zeta-Jones kindly replied, “so you’re one of the rare people in this world.”

The age difference never bothered Zeta-Jones or anyone in their families, yet it’s still heralded as the main reason for a potential split. Last month The Globe claimed Douglas couldn’t keep up with Zeta-Jones because of their age difference. 2019 NW believed the age gap would split Douglas and Zeta-Jones, yet they’re still together.
They’re not the only ones
There’s another couple who see a disproportionate amount of divorce rumors caused by an age gap: Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart. They have been together for 23 years, almost as long as Zeta Jones and Douglas. Tabloids constantly spew stories about Flockhart fearing for Ford’s life because of his age, or simply the age gap causing a Ford divorce.
Ford and Flockhart remain happily married, despite all the rumors. Zeta-Jones is also happy with Douglas. A significant age gap can be a problem for the people in the relationship more than it does for the couple. Everybody’s different, and these couples clearly don’t see the gap as a reason to break up.
