Fans of Encanto know that the Madrigal family don’t talk about Bruno (there is an entire song about it!) However, a new theory suggests some characters may have known that he was present in the house all the time.
Dolores, Pepa’s daughter, tells the family upon Bruno’s return that she “knew he never left”She heard him speak. “every day.” This isn’t much of a surprise, as she does tell the audience in We Don’t Talk About Bruno that she could “always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling.”
Is it possible that Bruno was living in the house with another family member? Some fans think so, and all arrows point to Julieta knowing, and the reason why is in her powers…
What is Julieta Madrigal’s power?
Julieta is the mother of Isabela, Luisa, and Mirabel, and is married to Agustín. Alma’s daughter, she is also a triplet with Bruno and Pepa.
Julieta’s power is that she can heal people with her cooking. As we see in the film, Julieta is able to heal Mirabel’s hand with an arepa con queso.
Angie Cepeda, the voice of Julieta, described Julieta’s character as “very kind.”
She Submitted Vital Thrills: “I really fell in love with her. She cares so much about her family and for the people in her community. She has this gift and she heals people with the food that she cooks. She does that for all who need it.”
We also hear about Julieta’s powers in the song The Family Madrigal, where Mirabel tells the audience about every member of her family and their magic.
Mirabel sings: “That’s my mom Julieta here’s her deal, the truth is she can heal you with a meal, her recipes are remedies for real.”
Did Julieta Madrigal realize that Bruno was at the house?
Some fans believe Julieta knew Bruno was living in the house from the beginning. The theory can be traced back to a scene in the movie, when Mirabel meets Bruno and tells his niece that Bruno has been eating out of the house.
Julieta is responsible for the food so it’s no surprise that she would notice when something was missing. Because the food is so closely tied to her power, Julieta should be able to notice when ingredients or meals are disappearing.
Bruno’s room is also behind the walls of the dining table, meaning that as Julieta spends so much time preparing and serving the family food, she could easily have heard him. This would make it easy for her to bring him food.
The theory is strengthened by the fact that Julieta is one of the only family members who does not join in with We Don’t Talk About Bruno, and, unlike the others, she doesn’t have anything bad to say about her brother.

The theory has been tossed about on Twitter by fans who have rewatched the movie and paid close attention to Julieta’s actions. Many believe that she knew that Bruno was there from the beginning.
