A MOM decided she was done with her shapewear for good and for the better. More than just embracing her body, she thought that it should be a “crime” to cover up her body.

Emily (@thevondyfam) shared the body positive message in a TikTok video. “I’m at a wedding in the bathroom and I took off my $98 Spanx,” she said. “I shouldn’t be ashamed of a little jiggle right here.” The mom explained that she refused to feel shame for what her body looks like after giving birth to healthy children.

“The more we see confident, sexy mamas owning their post-baby bodies, the more society will say yes, and more importantly, what a crime to cage this caboose,” she said. “How am I going to shake what my mama gave me when it’s caged? Honesty, screw the standard that says women’s bodies have to be seamless. No dimples, no rolls, seamless. I’m over it.

“I’m done squeezing into spandex I can’t breathe in and give me a stomach ache by the end of the night because they are literally SQUISHING my organs, all for what? To look thinner? It’s a no for me.” Her decision to let go of shapewear dramatically improved her experience on the dance floor.

“I will let that thang thang until the day I die,” she said. “No more caging our bodies to fit a standard. If you love wearing shapewear, do your thing mama but if you’re like me and hate shapewear but think you have to wear it, you don’t have to because I’m still a 10 without my shapewear.”
