Twitter strongly considers charging verified users $19.99 per monthly to use Twitter Blue, according reports in Platformer and The Verge. Elon Musk is looking for other revenue streams.

According to reports, Musk is expected to lay off more staff this week. He has given Twitter Blue staff the task of updating the site and quadrupling its subscription price, currently $4.99 per month. According to reports, if staff don’t update their accounts by November 7, they may lose their positions.

Twitter Blue is a feature that allows verified users to unlock additional features. Under Musk’s plan, these thousands of verified users would have 90 days to subscribe to the new versions or lose their blue tick – seen as a badge of honor in many professions.

One of Musk’s major moves since his botched acquisition of Twitter first started gaining traction has been to focus on verified accounts and bots.

After he claimed that the company was not providing enough spam bots, the deal almost collapsed. He was eventually forced to purchase Twitter because the transaction was too far advanced. However, yesterday he tweeted: “The whole verification process is being revamped right now.”

Musk’s chaotic reign in charge of Twitter has included rumors of multiple layoffs – many in middle management – hoax layoffs, the forging of a planned “content moderation council”Musk also censored his own tweets, deleting and then tweeting about the attack against Paul Pelosi. The homepage was modified for those who have logged out, and there are many more changes this week.
