Build A Stylish Rope Fence For Less Than £10

Angela’s DIY rope fence can be seen along the edge of her grass

Angela Gill shared her DIY result on the Facebook group Gardening On A Budget, and received hundreds of comments.

She explained: “I couldn’t afford a fence, but someone was giving some wooden posts away for free.

“So I made a rope fence with it and put wildflowers in the boarder to create this. I love it.”

Creating a Budget-Friendly Rope Fence

To separate the two more clearly, Angela added several wooden posts, about a metre apart, and bought thick rope, which she tied to each post at the top and bottom to create a roped fence.

Then, she had grown wildflowers between her grass and new fence to act as a barrier.

Creating Boundaries With Style

And the result looked amazing. One commented: “Very creative.”

Many “loved it” and one praised her handy work: “Great job.”

Budget-Friendly Fence Ideas

Another comment read: “Love it. So much better than a high fence,” and one Facebook user added: “Well done plenty of light and space.”

Someone else remarked: “Great idea and has given you a boundary.”

Angela replied: “Thank you, and yeah it clearly has a boundary now which it really needed.”

But Angela was not the only one to have built a fence on a budget.

Innovative Yet Affordable Ideas

Someone named Enzi commented: “It looks fab I’ve done the same thing out of an old wood frame and I love it well done.”

Other cheap fence ideas include ‘post and rail’ which won’t necessarily suit homeowners wanting privacy, but they’re great for creating rural-style boundaries.

Enhancing Privacy with Creativity

They are easy to put up, can be fitted with wire mesh to ensure pets or animals don’t escape, and don’t block views or natural light.

If you’re wanting a new hedge but can’t afford one, consider adding artificial plant screens.

Affordable and Attractive Solutions

They give an instant foliage effect, are easy to fix and waterproof — it is also brilliant for anyone looking for low maintenance garden ideas and offers good privacy levels too.

Creating Value with Simple Additions

Adding trellis to the top of your fence can also reduce costs. A 4ft fence with trellis can be cheaper than a 6ft fence.

Trellis can also support plants that like to climb or grow like a vine.
