That’s about to change, though, as BBC and Disney announceDisney Plus, the global exclusive home of new episodes of this week’s Disney Plus, will be available to all viewers worldwide. Doctor Who, the popular British sci-fi series that debuted in 1963, will continue to air on BBC in the UK and Ireland, but the team wants to expand the show’s international reach. The BBC has partnered Disney Branded Television in order to make this possible. Doctor WhoSeason 14 of Disney Plus outside the UK and Ireland.
David Tennant, who played the Tenth Doctor from 2006 – 2010, will return as the Fourteenth Doctor in three specials next year. Ncuti Gatta will be the Fifteenth Doctor during season 14, which will air before the year ends.
“I love this show, and this is the best of both worlds – with the vision and joy of the BBC and Disney+ together we can launch the TARDIS all around the planet, reaching a new generation of fans while keeping our traditional home firmly on the BBC in the UK,”Russell T Davies, showrunner, stated in a statement Tuesday.
The BBC shared the new logo, which will be used for the 2023 season.
Doctor WhoIt has become a cultural icon since its revival back in 2005. This marks one of Disney’s most significant partnerships since it brought every season of The SimpsonsDisney Plus, which is one of the most loved shows on the service.
