Horror is a genre that is brimming with iconic imagery. Few of its most prominent figures are as easily recognisable than Pinhead from Hellraiser.
Serving as an adaptation of Clive Barker’s 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart, the original movie arrived in 1987 and was directed by Clive himself. It was a horror movie that became a classic and quickly became a brand.
We’ve seen a handful of recent movies in the series but the reboot has managed to attract the attention of both new audiences and those who lost interest in the franchise years ago.
Now that it’s here, you will no doubt be wondering if the 2022 Hellraiser is on Disney Plus…
Disney Plus: 2022 Hellraiser Reboot on Disney Plus
Hellraiser does not stream on Disney Plus at the moment.
It’s often the case that Hulu-exclusive movies are released on Disney Plus in territories where Hulu is not available, such as the UK.
However, this hasn’t been the case for Hellraiser.
It was launched on Hulu on Friday October 7th 2022. As of now, there are no UK or Disney Plus release dates. Hulu is the only place to see the new, refreshing take on the disturbing Cenobites.
It’s likely that international release updates may emerge sometime in October now that the film’s been released in the US.
‘I just fell in love’
Recently, Director David Bruckner spoke to Discussion about FilmLearn more about his past with the franchise and how he appreciates it.
“I discovered the series first with Hellraiser III, that was just what found me in the 90s. Then, as I dug into the franchise more, I started to learn more about it, and I just fell in love. As I went into adulthood, Hellraiser became sacred cinema that dared to do things no one else would.”
He uses the script that was given to him “captured the spirit of Hellraiser, particularly the original and Hellbound: Hellraiser II,”They allowed themselves to follow their passions and find a new way.
