A haunting new movie “Where the Crawdads Sing,”Reese Witherspoon has produced a murder mystery set south and is based upon Delia Owens’s best-selling novel.
Owens spent twenty years in Africa working with elephants and other endangered species. Now, there is a murder mystery.
In 1996, ABC News chronicled the couple’s attempts to combat elephant poaching in the region. A disturbing video was captured in which a suspected poacher is shot and killed.
The Atlantic reports that Owens has been sought for questioning in relation to the murder as a witness, conspirator, or accessory over two decades.
According to the magazine, her husband wrote a letter that described poaching. “Two poachers have been killed and one wounded that I know of thus far, and we are just getting warmed up.”

“Shortly after the killing, Delia and her ex-husband moved away from Africa to Idaho, a very remote part of Idaho,”Smith stated.
Witherspoon fell in love with Owens’ novel and produced the movie, which was released this week.
Although the murder investigation had been dormant for many decades, the success of the book and the movie have brought the case to the forefront.
In 2020, Delia Owens told an interviewer, “I had nothing to do with the terrible event.”
