Peter Barlow Chris Gascoyne Leave
Chris Gascoyne, the Peter Barlow actor who has spent more than 20 years on screen is leaving later this year.
The door is open to his return. It’s understood that he plans on taking a long break from Weatherfield.
His appearance in the Manchester-based show will continue until the year’s end. He then departs at an unknown date.
Chris played Captain Hook in the stage production Peter Pan earlier this year. He will play the role at Alban Arena over the holiday period.
Peter’s tension builds on screen as he becomes involved with Stephen Reid’s storyline about a serial murderer by selling Rufus Donahue’s possessions after the crime.
He could be the one to blame for Stephen’s crimes.

Bethany Platt The return
Bethany Platt, the daughter of Sarah Platt on screen is currently recovering from a shocking miscarriage. She will be returning to Weatherfield within the next few months.
Lucy Fallon is returning to her former role in the series after a three-year absence. She left when her character decided to move away from New York City and pursue a career in London.
Daniel Osbourne was devastated by her departure, but has moved on to Daisy Midgeley, a barmaid at Rovers.
Bethany is said to be returning to the cobbles this winter with a source telling Central Recorder: “Bosses reached out to her a few weeks ago about the possibility of coming back, and told her everything they’d planned for Bethany if she agreed.”
“She discussed it with her boyfriend, and family, because she’s a mum now with a baby.”
“Once they’d talked about childcare, and how best to juggle it all, she was able to say she’d love to return.”

Spider Nugent Martin Hancock – Left
Martin Hancock, Emily Bishop’s nephew and beloved actor, reprised the role of Martin Hancock in 2022.
Geoffrey Nugent (aka Spider) rekindled Toyah’s love for him during the latest episode of his soap.
Spider, a former undercover cop who was disclosed to have been working with Griff Reynolds as far-right activist, was involved in the downfall of this pair.
In a storyline that aired on July 20, 2023, Spider put Toyah’s life in danger by his work. She was then kidnapped and taken away by the woman of a former arrestee.
When Spider moved to a different assignment and refused to quit his job, the relationship came to a halt.
Martin, when asked about the character’s departure, said “Life has gone wrong for them.” “It’s bad luck, and circumstances.”
It’s sad that what happened in Spider and Toyah’s lives in the past conspired at the end to bring them down.
It’s just not possible for the moment.
Is it the end of all things? Martin Hancock shared a theory.
I don’t believe it is the end. It’s not the end. They will never be without a touch of love between them… He’ll probably be very sad at the way that things ended.

Cassandra Plummer (Claire Sweeney) – joined
Evelyn Plummer, played by Maureen Lipman, claimed that her daughter Cassandra (aka Cassie) was dead.
How will Tyrone Dobbs, her grandson (Alan Halsall), understand her appearance on the cobbles?
Claire Sweeney from Brookside joined the lineup as the mother of the lost mechanic.
Speaking of her arrival, the actress said: “Even though I’ve been lucky enough to have enjoyed an amazingly varied career for nearly 40 years – being cast in Coronation Street is, to me, better than being cast in a Hollywood movie!”
“I’ve watched it all my life and can’t quite believe that I’ll now be stepping onto those famous cobbles myself.”
“I was really nervous when I got the scripts to audition as this show means so much to me and my family and this is Corrie gold, I was beyond thrilled and very grateful when I got the call that Iain MacLeod is trusting me to play Tyrone’s Mum and work alongside one of my heroes, Dame Maureen Lipman.”
Recent spoilers indicate that Claire Sweeney & Maureen Lipman, who temporarily left the series, will return.
Cassie is also going to tell Tyrone Tyrone’s mother.

Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine) – returning
Fiz Stape, an Underworld machinist who has been in love with Tyrone Dobbs on and off for years, ended 2022 on a positive note.
Jennie MacAlpine has had some good news off the screen.
Recently, the actress announced that she is expecting her third baby with husband Chris Farr.
“Alan [Halsall aka Tyrone Dobbs] She told: “I was the first one I told”.OK! Magazine.
“I thought, I may not feel brilliant. If you brought any butter close to me, I could get sick.” We’ve been busy, so he’s really looked after me – and the bosses.”
All of them are really happy. “We might need to hide Fiz again behind the washing basket!”
Fiz’s star, who was six-months pregnant in January of 2023, left the Cobbles by May of 2023.
Stephen Reid is a serial murderer who sent the machinist to Norwich, where she took over the leadership of the city. However, the family will still be in touch during the time that the woman is away.
Jennie isn’t sure how long she will stay away, but according to reports her Weatherfield alter ego has been working for Weatherfield in another city.
Jennie McAlpine’s role could be reprised at the end this year.

Paul Foreman Leave
Paul will be killed-off later this year after the character is diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
MND, or Motor Neuron Disease, is a rapidly-progressing, fatal disease that attacks the nervous system that controls movement. Muscles stop working, and the senses of the patient, such as hearing, sight and touch, are often affected.
It is a soap that works with you. MND Association On this storyline, we will look at the effect of Paul’s diagnosis and the progression of his illness on Paul’s loved ones.
Peter Ash, the actor said that Paul is blindsided by his diagnosis. He decides to hide it from family members and friends while he attempts to cope with the bad news.
“I was unaware of MND until I began writing the storyline. MND Association, for their support and help is greatly appreciated.
For any actor portraying a part that examines an issue or condition in real life, there is a sense of duty. And we know some viewers are living it.
Awareness and education is important. In the few months I’ve been working on this storyline, I’ve learned so many things. We hope Paul’s journey can make people more aware of the symptoms and what it is like for someone to live with MND.”

Owen (Ben Hull) – joined
Jenny Connor, after her relationship with Leo Thompkins failed, will begin Spring 2023 by finding a new lover.
Ben Hull, the former Hollyoaks actor will join the Corrie cast in March. He’ll play a character named Owen. The Rovers Landlady is also expected to be unable to stay indifferent.
Jenny might find it hard to develop a relationship with Owen if Stephen Reid is around.
The teaser said: “Smooth talker Owen will be the one to put the cat in the pigeons for a company in America interested in Sarah’s and Michael’s business”, Inside Soap.
When Jenny caught Owen’s eye, he wasn’t just interested in the loungewear.
Stephen is also a big investor in Michael’s and Sarah’s company, so he won’t tolerate anyone stepping on his territory. Owen, are you going to make Stephen work for it?
Stephen will he resort to murder to eliminate his competitors?

Estelle (Ruthie Henshall) – joined
West End legend Ruthie Henshall is joining the cast of Coronation Street for a guest role as Estelle this Spring.
Described as an old friend of Glenda Shuttleworth – who is played by fellow theatre star Jodie Prenger – Estelle will first be seen having a row with George about the cost of her mother’s funeral, only to bump into Glenda and spend time reminiscing about their past life working on cruise ships together.
According to a spokesperson for the soap: “It’s not long before Estelle is trying to talk Glenda into buying into her theatre school franchise Little Big Shotz, but how will Eileen react when George offers to help his sister with financial backing?”
Henshall added, “To be able to work with Jodie Foster was an honor and each member of the ensemble was friendly and welcoming.”
“Estelle’s delighted to meet her old friend Glenda. She shares a song or two with Glenda to remind herself of the fun times she had entertaining aboard cruises.
I am thrilled and excited to be in the same street as so many talented actors who have performed and strutted their stuff.
