BTS has teamed with Google in order to take part in a multimedia collaborationIt was launched in the US on Friday to commemorate the 9th anniversary of ARMY, a fandom associated with K-pop superstars.

Google Search is one of the collaborations. Users can interact with an Easter egg and Google Street View are also part of this collaboration. BTS encouraged ARMY members to submit videos that share their favourite BTS moments as part of the #MyBTStory Challenge. On the group’s official YouTube channel this Wednesday, July 13, a special ARMY video will showcase all of those fan-submitted tributes.

First up, though, let’s talk about the BTS Google Search Easter egg, since that one is the simplest to interact with. All you have to do is type. Simply type “BTS”Inscrive your query into a blank Google Search Box

You can do it on a computer or a smartphone. Once you’ve done that, see the purple balloon on the screen?

Click it and watch as a bunch of purple balloons rise up to fill your screen. (Purple is, incidentally, the color associated the BTS Army, for those who are not aware). You’ll also see that some of those balloons have microphones in them. Click on those to hear a special message from the band members.

With each tap of the balloon, individual messages written by each member of band appear on the screen.

Google expands collaboration

As we mentioned above, this Easter egg isn’t the end of the BTS Partnership with Google.

You can see a heartwarming example of a fan’s #MYBTStory submission to YouTube, below, ahead of the tribute video that hits the Google-owned video site next week.


The Google Arts & Culture online platform, meanwhile, is celebrating the BTS ARMY in its own way, with its “BTS x Street Galleries” collaboration.

Google Street View tours can be taken by fans of different cities and buildings in the world. Each location has a unique meaning to the bandmates. The tour includes 14 locations, and users can interact with art and photos curated by BTS members Jin, jhope, V and Jimin. You can also create your own Street Gallery.

This all happens as the band takes an extended break, partially so that each member can pursue their own projects. But even with the break that was announced in June, it’s already clear that 2022 will prove to be one of the band’s busiest in recent memory.
