Mikel Arteta, 25, is a big fan of his versatility. He can play as either a left-back and central midfielder.

Zinchenko will be reunited again with Arteta at Emirates after having worked with the Spaniard on the Etihad.

Zinchenko will be the second player to swap City for Arsenal this summer after striker Gabriel Jesus departed for £45m.

Fabrizio Romano, transfer expert, has stated that the only terms necessary to complete a transfer are personal terms.

He Tweet: “Arsenal and Manchester City have now reached verbal agreement in principle for Oleksandr Zinchenko, fee around £30m.

“Personal Terms are still being discussed.

Negotiating the salary and length of the contract is a key step in completing an agreement.

Zinchenko was linked with a switch to North London in May, before Arsenal turned their attention to Ajax’s versatile defender Lisandro Martinez.

After Martinez had agreed to follow Erik Ten Hag to Manchester United, they turned their backs on the player.

City is now expected to push ahead with plans to buy Marc Cucurella, the Spanish star from Brighton.

SunSport understands the Seagulls would demand around £50m in order to sell the 23-year-old.

Cucurella has still four years remaining on his contract with Amex Stadium.

He arrived in Getafe only last year but proved his worth from his 35 Premier League games in his first season.
