Martha Stewart was influenced by Hannibal Lector, a character who ended up being her reason for breaking off with Anthony Hopkins. Who can blame her?!
The celebrity chef got candid about her brief relationship with Hopkins in a Thursday appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
Speaking to DeGeneres, she confirmed that she had once dated the actor but decided to call things off because she couldn’t stop picturing him as Hannibal Lector in “The Silence of the Lambs.”
“I have a big, scary house in Maine that’s way by itself on 100 acres in a forest,” Stewart explained. “I couldn’t even imagine taking Anthony Hopkins there. I couldn’t because all I could think of was him eating … you know.”

“And you stopped because of that?” DeGeneres questioned. “Yeah,” Stewart quipped.

While Stewart didn’t give any further information about her relationship with Hopkins, the timelines of their respective relationships gave us some insight into when that brief-lived affair could have occurred.
As we all know, “The Silence of the Lambs”In 1991, she was released. Stewart separated from Andrew Stewart, her 29-year-old ex-husband, in 1990. Since then she has been single.
Hopkins has been married three times. He married Stella Arroyave, his current wife, in 2003.
Although Stewart’s reasons for the split might seem shocking to many, she made valid points and we can understand her reasoning.
