AITA for telling my fiancee to get her insecurities in check story explored

In the post, the Reddit user reveals he is 25 and engaged to his 24-year-old fiance, Amy. Like every other engaged couple, the pair have been planning their wedding and have had a conversation about who should be invited. They end up deciding that all of their co-workers should be part of the celebration as they have been working in their respective companies for a long time. While Amy agrees, she is quick to point out that there is one person who she doesn’t want at the wedding and it is Tally.

According to Amy, Tally was “the type of person to try to sway taken men and be the center of attention.” While the author did not agree, he did not want to disappoint his soon-to-be-wife and agreed to not include Tally. However, he informed her that he would break this news to her privately. Amy agreed and the two quickly went about their business.

Things changed shortly after when the author went to his office. He noticed that Tally limited their conversation and other people in the office also seemed distanced from her. It was unusual as they all interacted well. It is later that the author finds out his fiance came to the office and gave out the invitations but didn’t give one to Tally and told her that “you aren’t invited, women like you aren’t welcome.”

Tally’s life changed because of Amy

In the post, the author revealed that Tally struggled in office as people looked at her differently after the incident took place.

He even tried talking to her but things did not go as planned. The writer pointed out that Tally was considering leaving work because she found it hard to carry on with her duties.

The post concluded with the author writing that he was going to speak to Tally’s manager to sort things out. He further added that the wedding was put on hold.

Users react to the story

People were quick to point out that the fiance was in the wrong and showed many red flags. One user wrote: “Red flags everywhere. I’d put your wedding on hold. This behavior won’t improve.” Another added: “Amy is a bully, capricious, and jealous woman. I can’t imagine doing this in a professional setting. Or ever. Run.”

“Ready for marriage? I’m doubting she’s ready for polite society,” read one more comment. “No way could I marry someone that petty and cruel. It would color how I saw them forever,” said one more.

“The red flag metaphor is meant to be a warning sign of bad behavior. This is just straight-up psychopathic behavior,” noted another.
