Ainsley Hartriott, the former star of Ready, Steady Cook has been signed to a new cooking show on ITV.

The telly chef, 66, is fronting Ainsley’s National Trust Cook Off which will see celebrity chefs go head-to-head at different stately homes across the country.

A cooking challenge using the ingredients that are grown on site in our kitchen gardens will also be part of this 10 part series.

Filming begins later this month at Blickling Estate in Aylsham, in Norfolk, as featured in 1995 movie Sense & Sensibility starring Emma Thompson.

He said: “I love a new challenge and Ainsley’s National Trust Cook Off is just that – a fun cooking competition featuring some of the country’s top chefs, all set in the stunningly beautiful surroundings of amazing National Trust estates.

“The gorgeous scenery, the very freshest ingredients and some fantastic new recipes will be coming together to show off our countryside at its beautiful best.”

It comes after ITV axed Gordon Ramsey’s big-budget Next Level Chef and Bad Chefs, fronted by Youtube star Chunkz.

Ainsley hosted the BBC’s iconic daytime program Ready, Steady, Cook from 1994 to 2010.

In 2020, the contest was rebooted with Rylan at its helm. However, it was cancelled after only two seasons.
