SNL's Kate McKinnon explains Why She Quit NBC After 'The Best Decade.

It’s been just two months since Saturday Night Live ended its season with multiple surprise cast departures, and it’s still hard to get over that mini-exodus without new episodes around for comfort. Kate McKinnon was the one star to leave, although her departure was already rumored for some time before (and even earlier than previous seasons). The comedian now speaks out about the departure of the series.

Kate McKinnon was on Live! With Kelly & RyanShe spoke about her reasoning behind the series of long-running variety sketches in this interview. McKinnon called her successful stint on SNL As “the best decade,”She stated that it was now time for her to move forward. In her words:

It took me a while to think about it, and it was hard. Because that’s what I wanted all my life. It was a great experience, and I had the best decade. Then, I was just like. ‘My body was tired,’I felt like it was the right time.

It’s not surprising that Kate McKinnon would feel that way despite her love of being on the series. Not only was she involved in the project, SNL (and reaching big milestones) during that decade, but she was also working on other projects at the same time, whether it’d be adding to her feature filmography or filming high-profile series like Peacock’s Joe vs. Carol. Nevertheless, she will still be a big fan of the NBC series even if she’s not there to give her energy on the stage.

McKinnon mentioned that while she has yet to formulate other plans for her now-open Saturday nights, she already knows that she won’t be watching SNLAt least, for a time. McKinnon, on the other hand, has a reality show in her sights that would certainly keep her from getting distracted by all things sketch.

I don’t know what I will do. I don’t know that I can watch the show yet because it’s just too emo, because I miss everyone so much. I mean, it’s my family for sure. . . . So it’s too emo. I think I’m just gonna tape The Bachelorette and watch it on Saturday.

Watching SNL for the first time after exiting the series would definitely be a hard and emotional choice, so I don’t blame McKinnon for wanting to check out something else until the point where she doesn’t still feel as connected to it. It’s a testament to how much the series (and its crew) mean to her. She knows she made the right decision for her needs, even though it was hard to reach and execute. Hopefully, she’ll come back for a guest spot or hosting gig in the near future!

McKinnon’s plans for the future after-electionSNL, she’s keeping pretty busy with the upcoming animated film DC League of Super PetsAnd the eagerly awaited Barbie Movie starring Margot Robertbie and Ryan Gosling coming out in the next year. Now that she’ll be more open for roles, fingers crossed we’ll see her in more projects soon. Although there are no competing sketch shows scheduled for after-primetime weekends, it’s possible.

Kate McKinnon exited Saturday Night Live Aidy Bryant and Pete Davidson were also gone at Season 47’s end. Studio 8H was left empty after their departures. Bowen Yang, a cast member, commented on the emotional finale and said that the four had been departed. “defined what that show is in the last decade.”It is well-known for its rotating cast but it will take some time to get used to the absence of McKinnon and his co. in Season 48.

As of now, there isn’t a set premiere date for Season 48 of Saturday Night Live The cast will also be asked if they are adding any new members. It’s hard to tell if anyone else will be saying goodbye ahead of the new season, but if anyone else leaves, I wouldn’t be able to handle it.
