Ben Ofoedu Surprises Fans by Campaigning for Conservatives on Their Doorsteps
NINETIES pop star Ben Ofoedu has surprised fans by turning up on their doorsteps to campaign for the Conservatives. The 51-year-old has been canvassing voters ahead of the General Election after turning his attention to politics.
Ben Ofoedu: From Pop Star to Political Campaigner
Proudly wearing a blue rosette, Ben joined Greg Smith, Tory candidate for the new constituency of Mid Buckinghamshire, on the campaign trail this week. Phats & Small singer Ben is now eyeing up the opportunity to run in the London Mayoral race in four years’ time.
Ben Ofoedu’s Political Aspirations
He told Central Recorder: “I have keenly followed politics for many years, including relationships with Boris Johnson and other politicians. “I’m now ready to start my political journey and training to eventually run for Mayor of London. With Greg Smith’s support, I’m hoping this dream will become a reality. London needs fixing. It’s my home and Sadiq Khan is a disaster.”
Support for Conservative Candidate Greg Smith
Incumbent MP Mr Smith is running against Labour’s Carissma Griffiths, Anja Schaefer from the Lib Dems, Green candidate Greg Smith and SDP Yvonne Wilding on July 4. He has also been supported by the youngest-ever candidate on The Apprentice, Ryan-Mark Parsons. Ryan-Mark was preparing to work for Mr Smith when Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called a snap General Election last month.
Ben Ofoedu’s Personal Life and Past Relationships
Ben was previously engaged to TV presenter Vanessa Feltz. The couple were together for 17 years when their relationship fell apart over his infidelity.
