CCSU Fall Drag Ball 2017 – The Central Connecticut Sate University Pride Committee is hosting its annual Drag Ball on Thursday, Oct. 19. The event will take place from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. and feature Halloween themes drag performances by Summer Orlando, Kiki Lucia, Mia E Z’Lay and Trixie Payne. There will also be an amateur drag contest, games, prizes and food. Admission is free.
Puerto Rico, Capitalism, and the Hurricane – The Elmwood Community Center in West Hartford is hosting a forum to discuss current issues Puerto Rico is facing. Speakers include Jason Ortiz of the CT Puerto Rican Agenda; Milly Guzman, a Puerto Rican Activist who just returned from Cuba; and Alexis Rodriguez of the CT Puerto Rican Agenda. The forum will be held on Friday, Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
Pumpkin Lattes and Paint Class – The Artful Soul painting studio is hosting a pumpkin painting class inside Starbucks, located on Main St. in Newington. The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Admission includes a tall latte, a 10” craft pumpkin and painting supplies. Snacks will also be provided. Hartford Courant Travel Show: Fall & Winter Escapes – The Hartford Courant is hosting a travel show presented by Aer Lingus on Saturday, Oct. 21 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The expo will provide avid travelers with information and deals on fall and winter getaways, as well as onsite passport processing. The event will take place at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford. Craft beer, wine and spirit tasting will take place in the Pavilion at an additional cost. Yoga @ Alvarium Beer Company – Samatva Yogi will be teaching a one-hour yoga class at Alvarium Beer Company in New Britain on Sunday, Oct. 22.
