It’s important to think twice before reheating oily foods in the microwave

If you throw leftover french fries into the microwave, they will be re-heated and release harmful free radicals.

The following are some of the ways to get in touch with us. Dr. Andrew Weil, founder of the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, shared: “A recent study found that a toxin called 4-hydroxy-trans-2-nonenal (HNE) forms when such oils as canola, corn, soybean, and sunflower oils are reheated. Foods containing HNE, a toxin formed by cooking oils, have been shown to increase the risk of cancer and liver disease.

You may be tempted to refry leftover French fry in the oven in order for them to become crispy, but this is not the best option. Per culinary expert Brad Stevens (via Southern Living

If you fry them again, you will end up having extra-greasy potatoes. You should avoid reheating French fries, because they are cooked twice in restaurants. They blanch the fries first, and then fry them. They’ve already been cooked twice by the time they arrive at your door. The same reasoning applies to cooking oil as it does when reheating greasy food in the microwavable.
