Best new games to play in 2022

0

2022 has been an amazing year for game releases, from PC to Xbox and everything in between. Although we are soon approaching the end of the year, here are some of the best releases and why they are worth playing.

Many of the expected games in 2019 aånd 2021 were pushed back, and 2022 has been a joyous mix of everything we were waiting for and more.

We’ve got retro games making a big comeback TMNT style, a Slingo demo from Megaways Casino, some fun shoot ’em games with Sniper Elite 5, and so much more. So let’s take a look.

The Iron Oath

If you love RPGs, then this game has to make your list of must-plays. It’s not a massive game by any means, but it really doesn’t matter when the gameplay is so enjoyable. A pleasing look at fantasy land keeps throwing you to the brink of doom and disaster, and it is your job to keep all of your troops both happy and alive.

After all, you’re going to need these troops to save lost souls, fight off demons and make your way through challenging dungeons.

It’s easy to sit down with the intention of playing for 30 minutes and 5+ hours later, still working on it.

What makes this game a true gem is that the UI is simple and very friendly to complete beginners.

NORCO

There are games that are nice to look at, and there are games like this. Norco is stunning storytelling of southern Louisiana, and it takes place in a dystopian science fiction story that might feel a little bit too real in parts.

Norco is based in a New Orleans Refining Company. The game opens up with tragedy, and you slowly get to know the main character in this point-and-click game. What is interesting about the game is that while dystopian, there is some magical feel and mystery too – and yet it still feels real. The combination of these elements brings something really special to life.

You can have fun with mind-mapping mechanics, puzzles, a mental notebook, and more. It is by no means a slow burner, but it gives you enough time as you work through the storyline to soak up all the intricate details.

TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge

That pesky shredder is up to no good again, even after all of these years; you get everything you would expect with a typical Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles game, movie, or series – motorbikes, Foot Clan soldiers, pizza, and some wildly dangerous and dealy shopping bags.

The graphics are super slick and an hommage to the original games – just a little bit slicker.

Keep in mind that this one isn’t very long, but the replay value is reasonable since you have seven different characters you can play as. Each of the characters has their own special moves for your to master – and let’s just say Splinter is worth playing.

TMNT rides the wave of nostalgia while being modern enough to bring along new fans – and people who just love new games.

Slingo

Slots and bingo players rejoice because you have something new on the scene. It’s available to play now, and it combines the most played online casino game – and the game that changed how people spent time.

Taking the best elements from both games, Slingo offers us a unique twist – each spin gives you a number to dab off on your card. But just like bingo, there are a limited amount of calls – or in this case, spins.

It’s fun, easy to play, and what’s more, is, you can win real cash. Delightful.

Sniper Elite 5

Many people have mixed feelings about Sniper Elite, and at face value, that is a fair assessment. It does come off as a hyper-violent blood-spattered game. But, there can be a lot of fun to be had in the genre – especially when it is visually stunning.

Sniper Elite 5 is a showcase for brilliant-level designs and could be one of the standout sandbox missions to be seen in 2022.

Your sightlines will be narrow; you’ll be dodging mines on the beach, all with the mission of shooting Nazis.

Doesn’t sound too bad!

Citizen Sleeper

Citizen Sleeper is a must-play for those who love tabletop games and like a lot of text in their games. It also manages to feed that need for the 90’s hacker, cyberpunk futuristic tech hunger too.

Imagine if you woke up in a body that wasn’t yours in a place you aren’t quite sure of. Imagine further that you were built with planned obsolescence – and to stay alive, you must consume a supplement daily.

Sounds weird, right? True to the tabletop theme, you are going to need to make some serious trade-offs. Do you do something selfish or something selfless? Can you give away the last of your cash?

What’s more, is that you only have a limited supply of randomized dice. If you have ever played decision-based games, you’ll know that there is usually a punishment for choosing the wrong thing – however, here, they just let you make your own conclusion about why you’re making these decisions.

And if all of that isn’t enough, while World of Warcraft had its fair share of issues and some expacs that bombed in the past, a new one is set to be delivered as we get further into the winter. Plenty of games to enjoy – and one for every type of gamer!
