The government website states that: “Make sure your electronic devices are charged before you travel. If your device does not switch on when requested, you will not be allowed to take it onto the aircraft.”
British Airways has this information on their website: “Airport security personnel may ask you turn on electronic or batteries-powered devices such as phones and tablets, ebooks, and laptops to prove their function.”
“If you’re not able to do this, you will not be able to take your device with you.”
The airline will warn you if it isn’t possible to turn it on.
