You can measure your blood cholesterol levels by using the unit millimoles/litre of blood (mmol/L).

Your cholesterol level should be:

  • Healthy adults need to consume less than 5 mg/L
  • For those at high risk, 4mmol/L is the minimum

LDLs should not be measured at levels below:

  • Healthy adults should consume 3mmol/L less
  • High rise buildings should have a concentration of 2mmol/L or lower

These little lumps can be ignored and usually go away once your cholesterol is lower.
