Netflix has been the number one streaming site for Korean-language series and movies. Netflix has invested millions upon million of dollars into South Korea to finance the production and distribution of many new K-dramas. As such high-profile releases in recent years Twenty-five Twenty Twenty One<\/em>, Juvenile Justice<\/em>?, and Thirty-Nine<\/em>. Apple TV+ is set to take on Netflix in this category, thanks to the recently-released Pachinko<\/em>.<\/p>\n

This series<\/a>The Academy Museum in Los Angeles held a spectacular world premiere of “The” last week. It is based upon Min Jin Lee’s novel. The first three episodes of the show debuted on the iPhone maker\u2019s streaming service on Friday, March 25, to a halo of critical acclaim. Here are some examples: Pachinko<\/em>Straight out of the gate, a perfect 97 percent score from critics Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>. A similar impressive audience score was 93 percent.<\/p>\n

It is Pachinko<\/em> a true story?<\/h2>\n

While Pachinko<\/em>Although it isn’t a true story, the source material can be considered historical fiction. It is based upon the experiences that a family of Korean immigrants living in Japan in early 1900s might have had.<\/p>\n

As Apple\u2019s description notes, the story is told through the eyes of the family\u2019s matriarch Sunja. Contrast her life with Solomon’s in the 1980s.<\/p>\n
