Both Christina and Matt served as coaches at the Orange County, Calif. private school where Kobe&#8217;s daughters went. &#8220;He saw what an amazing mind [Christina] had for basketball and he brought her on,&#8221;Matt explained this during his Jan. 27, 2012, presentation <em>Today<\/em> appearance. &#8220;He asked her to teach the kids defense.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Modified Mother of Defense is also known as MOD. &#8220;She was warm, she was incredibly bright, she was technologically incredibly savvy,&#8221;\u00a0Matt continued. &#8220;She could figure out anything.&#8221; Now, he and his kids are trying to\u00a0work out how to move forward while honoring her legacy.\u00a0&#8220;I just try to live the life that Christina would want us to live,&#8221;He said <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocregister.com\/2021\/01\/23\/christina-mausers-family-fighting-for-happiness-one-year-after-losing-her-in-kobe-bryant-helicopter-crash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Register of Orange County<\/a><\/em>.\u00a0&#8220;Life is for living, and life is beautiful despite all the stuff that we&#8217;ve been through and everybody has been through.
