Vachik Mangassarian, an actor who appeared on “NCIS:\u00a0Los Angeles,”<\/a>\u00a0“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”<\/a> and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,”<\/a>\u00a0has died. He was 78.<\/p>\n

Mangassarian’s manager Valerie McCaffrey\u00a0confirmed to USA TODAY on Tuesday that the actor died Saturday of COVID-19 complications. According to McCaffrey,\u00a0Mangassarian was vaccinated for COVID-19, even though he shared memes on Facebook that appeared to\u00a0oppose\u00a0COVID vaccines<\/a> and downplay\u00a0the pandemic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Here\u2019s what you can do with my dose Joe,” reads one meme shared by Mangassarian in November that shows a syringe poking President Joe Biden in the backside.\u00a0“Let\u2019s Go Brandon.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n

Mangassarian appeared in several television shows throughout this career. On “NCIS,” he played a fake Iranian president, and he played a cleric on “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” He also appeared in a 2013 episode of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” as a character named\u00a0Qasim Zaghlul.<\/p>\n

According to his IMDb profile<\/a>,\u00a0Mangassarian was born in Iran in 1943 and died in Burbank, California. He emigrated to the United States at\u00a023,\u00a0working\u00a0as a waiter in Los Angeles before forging an\u00a0acting career.<\/p>\n
