{"id":66969,"date":"2022-01-14T01:36:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-13T20:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/centralrecorder.com\/twitter-roasts-prince-andrew-as-queen-strips-him-of-titles\/"},"modified":"2022-01-14T01:36:00","modified_gmt":"2022-01-13T20:06:00","slug":"twitter-roasts-prince-andrew-as-queen-strips-him-of-titles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/centralrecorder.com\/twitter-roasts-prince-andrew-as-queen-strips-him-of-titles\/","title":{"rendered":"Twitter roasts Prince Andrew as Queen strips him of titles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/centralrecorder.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Twitter-roasts-Prince-Andrew-as-Queen-strips-him-of-titles.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"main\">\n<p>Queen Elizabeth II is stripping her son, Prince Andrew, of all his military titles and royal patronage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith The Queen\u2019s approval and agreement, The Duke of York\u2019s military affiliations and Royal patronages have been returned to The Queen,\u201d read a\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.royal.uk\/statement-buckingham-palace-regarding-duke-york\">statement<\/a>\u00a0from Buckingham Palace on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Duke of York will continue not to undertake any public duties and is defending this case as a private citizen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While he remains known as Prince Andrew, he will no longer be called His Royal Highness.<\/p>\n<p>The military titles lost include:<\/p>\n<div class=\"sc-hWBuOZ dksvCW\">\n<ul>\n<li>Colonel of the Grenadier Guards<\/li>\n<li>Honorary air commodore of RAF Lossiemouth<\/li>\n<li>Colonel-in-chief of the Royal Irish Regiment<\/li>\n<li>Colonel-in-chief of the Small Arms School Corps<\/li>\n<li>Commodore-in-Chief of the Fleet Air Arm<\/li>\n<li>Royal colonel of the Royal Highland Fusiliers <\/li>\n<li>Deputy colonel-in-chief of The Royal Lancers (Queen Elizabeths\u2019 Own) <\/li>\n<li>Royal colonel of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>It all comes after a US\u00a0judge denied his request to dismiss the civil case on Wednesday, meaning Prince Andrew, 61, will stand trial over Virginia Roberts Giuffre\u2019s sexual assault allegations.<\/p>\n<p>This could be a significant\u00a0sweat-inducing\u00a0blow for the Duke of York, who strenuously denies any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/newsletters?itm_channel=native&amp;itm_campaign=footer&amp;itm_audience=prospecting&amp;itm_content=newsletters\"><strong>Sign up<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0to our new free Indy100 weekly newsletter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And, in light of the news, Twitter lit up with mockery for the royal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Liam Thorp came up with an inspired pun, referencing the musical artist Prince:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>One person noted that he\u2019s not the only one who can no longer call himself \u2018royal highness\u2019:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>They always say blood is thicker than water.
