Instead, we\u2019re talking about something on the opposite end of the cringe spectrum: mega-cornball humor. <u>Current guest host Ken Jennings<\/u>It may be the best ever <u>When it comes to trivia-based success, GOAT<\/u>, but he\u2019s abundantly aware that he won\u2019t be winning the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor anytime soon (or ever). He even apologized to his Twitter followers for an especially egregious pun, which will go down in Dad Joke-dom&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<p>However, some <em>Jeopardy!<\/em> viewers were more than willing to believe that Ken Jennings\u2019 throwback joke was bad enough to deserve door-to-door apologies, the wordplay definitely had its defenders. For those who didn\u2019t catch the episode, one clue within the category \u201cNational Geographic Ocean: A Global Odyssey\u201dThe contest was about a certain parasite-mouthed ocean creature. And after one contestant\u2019s wrong guess of \u201celectric eel,\u201dIt was revealed what the judges were looking at \u201cmoray eel.\u201dThis led to the moment shown below.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"hawk-nest\" data-render-type=\"fte\" data-skip=\"dealsy\" data-widget-type=\"seasonal\"><\/aside>\n<p>That led Ken Jennings and others to come out and share. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KenJennings\/status\/1460442592114470914\" data-url=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KenJennings\/status\/1460442592114470914\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>This message<\/u><\/a>Follow him on Twitter:<\/p>\n<figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>To express my regret, I will be going to your home individually.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>While there were no doubts, <em>Jeopardy!<\/em> fans going back and forth over who deserves to be the permanent host and who is a blight on the face of Alex Trebek&#8217;s legacy \u2014 &#8220;What is&#8230;hyperbole?&#8221; \u2014 there were more than enough fans cheering Jennings on for bringing some goofy humor to the series. It adds life to the show when the host has the answers down to a science. Robin Williams would be proud of your timing, boy.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Many fans thought that Jennings could keep his sorries in socks, as they weren&#8217;t needed to defend the Rat Pack-y pun. It was funny! Please make Ken permanent host. Alex will be remembered by Ken and only HE.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Even those who don&#8217;t want Ken Jennings to be the permanent choice <em>Jeopardy!<\/em>Hosts were perfectly content to have his broad humor available for laughs, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KellyDLz\/status\/1461473851561455617\" data-url=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KellyDLz\/status\/1461473851561455617\" rel=\"noopener\">The viewer is below<\/a><\/p>\n<figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>@missmayim is a great host. But, I also love his punny jokes and corny Ken. So @CallMeKatFOX may still be possible. Please share the job. But not for Jennings&#8217;s joke about being a groaner. Jennings&#8217; pun caused an earworm and prompted many to ask for an apology.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I would like to apologize because I was unable to get the song out of me after that. And here I am at 5 :06 am, reading this, and the song is back in my mind for the second time in 24 hours. Tee hee, great job.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Matt Amodio, a recent champ, responded to Ken Jennings&#8217; post in a very biting reply that could have many meanings depending on how one interprets them.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Everyone loves someone who is open to apologies.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>All opinions are welcome, but I believe we can all agree on the following response from a moray eel.<\/p>\n<div class=\"see-more see-more--clipped\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet hawk-ignore\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Although I would love to meet you, I don&#8217;t require any apology. However, the yukik joke mentioned above was far less controversial than the one about the yukik. Corn-troversial, maybe.<\/p>\n<p>With Jennings having returned to the hosting spot on the anniversary of Alex Trebek&#8217;s death \u2014 though that fact was not made clear to him when taping \u2014 <em>Jeopardy!<\/em>Weekdays are the best days to watch syndication.
