Marvel introduces new characters and villains and weaves intricate stories. The multiverse will let Marvel connect the MCU to Sony\u2019s Spider-Man universe and Fox\u2019s X-Men movies. As exciting it might be to welcome all these superheroes to the MCU, there\u2019s a downside. Actors who were Marvel icons over the years won&#8217;t be able to share the same sandbox. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Captain America (Chris Evans), are all gone. Hugh Jackman also retired years ago from his Wolverine position, long before Disney bought Fox. But the Jackman Wolverine cameo rumors won\u2019t go away, and we might see the actor get his adamantium powers back one more time in the MCU.<\/p>\n<p>Before we get into any of the new Wolverine rumors, I\u2019ll remind you that big spoilers might follow below. Avoid the potentially shocking spoilers if you want to be surprised. <strong>These are huge spoilers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Don\u2019t fall for the obvious cameo guesses<\/h2>\n<p>Disney&#8217;s Disney Plus Day was held last week. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/disneyplus.bn5x.net\/c\/256585\/564546\/9358?subId1=BGR--&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.disneyplus.com%2F\">Disney Plus<\/a>Marvel made several announcements during the process. One of those was the <em>X-Men \u201997<\/em>The reboot brings animated series back into the MCU. That\u2019s a great way to slowly introduce the mutants, although the X-Men in that series might come from a different reality.<\/p>\n<p>Marvel used Wolverine to tease the animated series, but that\u2019s not Hughman\u2019s Wolverine. Even if the actor does voice-over, it doesn&#8217;t count as a cameo.<\/p>\n<p>It might be years until the MCU\u2019s mutants arrive, as Marvel needs to plant the right seeds and ensure the X-Men can rise organically. Problem is figuring out where the mutants went. Marvel was unable to use X-Men slang in the past years, as Fox owned the rights. Source: Marvel Studios<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Jackman MCU Wolverine rumors from the early days<\/h2>\n<p>Marvel spoilers fans might remember that in early 2020 rumors said Jackman\u2019s Wolverine would show up in the most exciting MCU Phase 4 movie. That\u2019s <em>Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness<\/em>This was the only movie in which non-MCU characters were allowed to appear. We didn&#8217;t know how huge a multiverse movie it was at the time. <em>Spider-Man has no way home<\/em>\u00a0will turn out to be. Still, <em>Doctor Strange 2<\/em>It is expected to grow even more.<\/p>\n<p>There were rumors back then that the sequel would have darker themes than the first film. Scott Derrickson was to be the director of the film. Wolverine was only one of many cameos. Marvel and Derrickson parted ways with Kevin Feige selecting Sam Raimi to replace him. Leaks stated that <em>Doctor Strange 2<\/em> was too dark, with Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) being the film\u2019s massive villain.<\/p>\n<p>Rumours of a Wolverine appearance in a movie came down. They resurfaced this year. Some claimed that Marvel wanted Hugh Jackman, but not necessarily in the MCU. <em>Doctor Strange 2<\/em>. Others reiterated Marvel\u2019s wish to have Wolverine in the sequel.<\/p>\n<p>Massive is another word. <em>Multiverse of Madness<\/em>Leaks revealed many details about the film. We discovered the plot, the true villain and some surprise cameos.<\/p>\n<p>According to leaks, Wanda is still the main villain. And she\u2019s supposed to fight and kill an X-Men variant from an alternate universe. This was to begin with <em>Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness<\/em>. The sequel will be released in May, rather than March next year. According to reports, the film did not perform well at screenings. Marvel was reportedly trying to fix the story, adding more cameos fans would enjoy from a multiverse movie. We learned this information a few days ago. <em>Doctor Strange 2<\/em> reshoots are so extensive that they\u2019ll last through Christmas, enough to film an entire movie.<\/p>\n<p>The Jackman-Wolverine rumor is now confirmed. According to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/geekositymag.com\/hugh-jackmans-wolverine-returns-in-doctor-strange-in-the-multiverse-of-madness\/\"><em>GeekosityMag<\/em><\/a>He will also appear in the sequel. According to the report, Patrick Stewart was one of the key factors in the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Like Jackman, Stewart didn\u2019t want to appear in the MCU after <em>Logan<\/em>. Both actors didn\u2019t want to ruin the legacy of that movie, which is easily the highlight of Fox\u2019s <em>Wolverine<\/em> franchise. Marvel&#8217;s multiverse makes it possible to avoid these continuity problems.<\/p>\n<p>The Professor X will be appearing in <em>Doctor Strange 2<\/em>There will be a variant. Hugh Jackman appeared to have agreed to play Wolverine once more, with Stewart as his MCU counterpart. He did post images of Kevin Feige and Hugh Jackman online earlier this year to tease a possible MCU role. Jackman\u2019s role might be limited in the movie. Marvel would be able to acknowledge Fox&#8217;s legacy by including Wolverine in the movie. Many mutants in the multiverse look and behave very much like Fox ones. Marvel can then recast all the mutants for the MCU.<\/p>\n<p>In late August, a leak revealed what Marvel wanted to see from Wolverine. <em>Doctor Strange 2<\/em>. Marvel reports that although plans were canceled, they made it work. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ViewerAnon\">Wanted<\/a>Jackman<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Last year, I suggested that <em>Logan<\/em> might be not be Hugh Jackman\u2019s last performance as Wolverine. That\u2019s because they wanted him for <em>Doctor Strange 2<\/em>Wanda to fight (and have his ass decimated). Apparently it didn\u2019t end up happening.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Marvel insider Daniel Richtman <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DanielRPK\/status\/1431308705904087049\"><\/a>At the time, the claim was true. Later, we discovered that Wanda would \u201cdecimate\u201dProfessor X is the sequel and features a different X-Men.<\/p>\n<p>There are rumors that Marvel has a desire to correct one thing. <em>Doctor Strange 2<\/em>Wanda. They want to tone her down, which might mean she\u2019ll kill fewer cameos. What better way to show that Wanda is dangerous than to have her face Professor X and Wolverine? It&#8217;s possible she might still be alive. \u201cdecimate\u201dThey can&#8217;t kill either mutant.
