The concept of canned wine isn’t new. Actually, The first wine to canCalifornia is where it was discovered in the 1930s. Despite its popularity, and oftentimes its high quality, it has not been well-known. It’s hard to shake tradition, especially in the world of wine, but one brand is striving to do just that.

NomadicaKristin Olszewski is the founder of, a premium canned wine company. Olszewski, like many wine aficionados was originally “offended”The mere idea of wine in a can is a daunting concept. She discovered that canning can be a great way to make great wine more easily accessible with a smaller carbon footprint than a standard 750ml glass bottles.

Quality and Sustainability are top priorities

Talking with Olszewski about the subject, I was also initially skeptical. I am by no means a wine snob, but the few canned wines I’ve tried in the past simply weren’t that great. The problem was not with the can, but the wine. “Just as bottles do, wine in cans varies in quality level,”She told Suggest. “Nomadica is premium–sourced by someone who drinks wine for a living! I’ve spent over a decade developing my palate and I think this really sets us apart from other wine in can.”

We place a strong emphasis on quality and sustainability. NomadicaOnly wines are sourced from vineyards that use responsible farming practices. This includes making sure that the vine is not chemically modified. So, all varieties are vegan, low-sulfur, and fermented dried. Not to mention delicious.

“I do my best to source universally gratifying wines; flavor profiles that are serious enough for a glass, but vivacious enough to be sipped out of the can,” Olszewski commented. “I love being able to provide a Michelin-level of wine expertise outside of the dining room.”

The Best Canned Wine on the Market

I can attest that not only is Nomadica hands down the best canned wine I’ve ever tasted, but it’s also a lot better than many of the normal bottled varieties I’ve tried in the past. This current collection also includes: White, Red Blend, Rose´, Sparkling White, and Sparkling Rose´. “We [also] offer special limited-edition collaborations with my favorite winemakers online once a quarter. These are more experimental and always really fun,”Olszewski was also added.

You can opt for them “Date Night”AdventureI was able to taste the classics WhiteAnd Red Blend. First of all, wow! The WhiteChardonnay grape, it has the distinctive golden hue and medium-to-full body pour. It immediately registers bright citrus notes and tangy green apples with subtle warm notes. It is complex and refreshing. The finish is rounded off with lemon zest and a touch of floral notes. This lovely blend is not too buttery or oaky and retains the rich flavors of Chardonnay but without the heavyness.

The Red BlendThis was also a pleasure. A dark ruby red was used with a medium to lightly bodied wine. It immediately had a mild jammy-ness which quickly transitioned to subtle earthy and peppery notes. It was not dry and it came out bright and clean. This red is perfect with almost any food.

Olszewski recommends that you enjoy your wine chilled if at all possible. “I personally enjoy drinking chilled wine–even reds! I recommend chilling Nomadica cans and then pouring the wine into a glass for the best experience. You can absolutely drink straight from the can as well (and this is great if you’re at a party, backyard BBQ, or anything similar!), but pouring them into a glass helps elevate the experience even further–wine always tastes better when you can smell it.”

All The Details

The thoughtfulness and design of the packaging and presentation were more important than the quality and taste of the wine. Every variety has beautiful artwork and not a standard logo. Olszewski believes it was crucial to partner “with artists from around the world to find the perfect piece that evokes the tasting notes and origin story of the particular varietal. We think the can is the perfect canvas to visually represent each wine’s unique attributes and hint at the experience you’ll have when you indulge.”

You can also enjoy a Spotify playlist for each variety to enhance your sensory experience.

Are you still not convinced? You can try Nomadica yourself! Each variety is available as a can pack of 8, 12, 24, or 36, which equals 2.6, 4, 8 and 12 bottles.
