I wore shorter clothes to my interview for med school, and I&#8217;m wearing them shorter today to work. She <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thegradmedic\/status\/1435693686998900738\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">explained<\/a>: \u201c\u2018student had a short dress with no leg coverings\u2014roleplayer commented immediately &#8230; said looked unprofessional, and I agree.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I think it was more than showing ankles. I won&#8217;t be treated by any doctor who appears to be out on a night, regardless of their medical knowledge. He indicated that the university said sharing the story online could potentially be a &#8220;contravention of GMC guidance.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Grand Medical Council (GMC) is the formal body the tracks the actions of\u00a0doctors and medical students. They have strict rules regarding comments on social media.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">It&#8217;s a professional and elegant dress, but would you be able to run to a crash scene in it? The skirt is too short for me to walk in, let alone run in, a crash situation.<\/p>\n<p>I know OSCE is not &#8220;real&#8221; but an exam. He expressed: \u201cthe [examiner\u2019s] word is final, and the investigation is closed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Newcastle University unexpectedly posted an <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UniofNewcastle\/status\/1435912999735369739\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">apology<\/a> via Twitter. They clarified that the comment about the student&#8217;s dress length was lodged by\u00a0a \u201crole-play patient\u201d during the OSCE exam.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A Twitter apology? What is the point of that tweet? It\u2019s more an \u201coh, oh. We need to cya.\u201d The Chancellor or Dean of the Medical School &amp; the original doctor that was proctoring the exam need to meet with her face to face to make that apology, followed up with a discussion of<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Oy Vey Bubbe\ud83d\udd2f (@betenoir123) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/betenoir123\/status\/1437232543317872642?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"noopener\">September 13, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>THE YELLOW CARD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Their apology also indicated that the yellow card the student received was rescinded. @TheGradMedic responded and insisted that the apology was not entirely genuine.<\/p>\n<p>She <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thegradmedic\/status\/1435913876651053061\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said <\/a>both the role-play patient and the examiner ruled her dress inappropriate.\u00a0She wanted the whole truth to circulate online and went as far as reaching out to\u00a0the\u00a0British Medical Association, a U.K. doctors union.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">But we are not convinced that the yellow card should have been issued. This is why, when the concerns were raised with us by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thegradmedic?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"noopener\">@thegradmedic<\/a> earlier this year, they were investigated, and the yellow card was rescinded. As a result, she\u00a0won&#8217;t be giving the press any more comments.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, @TheGradMedic\u00a0hopes her experience will lead to &#8220;wider questions being asked [regarding] discrimination, policies, but also the freedom (or lack of) for students\/doctors to discuss issues without fear of repercussions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Perfectly professional. Many were shocked at her inappropriate dress. One user inquired if the student had sent the wrong photograph.<\/p>\n<p>Another user suggested that the student might have been responsible. They <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HarpsTale\/status\/1436466434041946145\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">stated<\/a>: &#8220;The wellbeing of patients is paramount, and personal preference takes 2nd place.
