Taylor Dayne stepped into the spotlight in the \u201980s because of her pop hits. The pop singer, now 60 years old is back in the limelight and sharing a cautionary story for women. After being diagnosed in colon cancer, the \u201cTell It to My Heart\u201dSinger encourages women to visit the doctor for checkups.\u00a0<\/p>\n

American Music Award-winning Singer Recently opened up to Good Morning America<\/em><\/a>Women should be screened for health issues. Dayne was found to have colon cancer in July during routine colonoscopy. According to Dayne, she goes twice a calendar year for a coloscopy after benign tumors were found.<\/p>\n

Although she\u2019s received the all clear in the past, this time was different. Dayne was surprised to receive the diagnosis. It took her a while for the doctor to tell her what she needed. She described the feeling she had. \u201cblack\u201dAnd \u201cdark\u201dWhile not being capable of taking in the news.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She began to go backwards in her head and realized that \u201cfive months ago there was nothing.\u201dThe doctor confirmed that they had caught the disease early. Dayne underwent surgery to remove 10 inches from her colon within a matter of weeks. The singer was declared free from cancer immediately following the operation.<\/p>\n

\u2018This Has Challenged Me Mentally And Emotionally\u2019<\/h2>\n

Dayne was declared cancer-free and stayed in hospital for 20 days. While it\u2019s unusual for someone to stay in the hospital for this long following this type of surgery, Dayne apparently suffered from a complication. According to Dayne, she \u201cdeveloped an infection.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Grammy-nominated singer had to endure the difficult procedure and stay at the hospital. She said that she was happy to be alive. \u201cThis has challenged me mentally and emotionally.\u201dThe therapy program provides the singer with the support she needs.<\/p>\n

Taylor Dayne is using the platform to encourage more women in routine checkups. If her benign polyps hadn’t been discovered years ago, she wouldn’t have undergone the colonoscopy which revealed that she had colon cancer. The singer hopes that all women will follow her lead. \u201cfind a doctor that will tell you the truth. Be a warrior for yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n

According To the American Cancer Society<\/a>Colon cancer is the third-most common type of cancer worldwide. In 2022, approximately 106,180 Americans will be diagnosed with the disease. The 20% of patients who have had the disease in their families are at greater risk. Doctors advise everyone to look into their family history to find out if they’re at increased risk. Although it is very common in the United States, experts stress that early detection can help prevent death.<\/p>\n
