Jerry Falwell Jr., former chancellor and president at Liberty University, was fired in 2019 due to a scandal that hampered his image.<\/p>\n
Falwell was born to Jerry Falwell Sr., a Baptist evangelist and independent owner of Liberty College, Lynchburg, Virginia.<\/p>\n 2<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div> Jerry Falwell Jr. is a fundamentalist Christian, and the son of Rev Jerry Falwell Sr., a well-known Baptist preacher.<\/p>\n He spoke out in support of his religion during a Vanity Fair<\/a>Article describing Falwell\u2019s rise and fall in the wake of a 2020 scandal which claimed that his wife Becki had an affair with their ex-pool boy in Florida.<\/p>\n Falwell resigned from his position at Liberty University and was speaking out in the expos\u00e9 to address the allegations against him which he vehemently denies.<\/p>\n \u201cBecause of my last name, people think I\u2019m a religious person. But I\u2019m not,\u201dFalwell comments in the article. \u201cMy goal was to make them realize I was not my dad.\u201d<\/p>\n Falwell, who claimed he is a Christian and a devout Christian, took to social media after the article had been published.<\/p>\n “While I didn\u2019t wear my religion on my sleeve to be seen by others, I have nonetheless had a strong faith in Christ and\u00a0his\u00a0teachings since college,\u201d Falwell\u00a0wrote.<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cWhile I am far from perfect, let me be clear: I believe Jesus was born of a virgin. I believe in the Deity of Christ as the only Son of God.\u201d<\/p>\n Falwell spoke about the church that his father used to own and preach at. It was passed on to Jonathan after his father’s death.<\/p>\n \u201cI love [Thomas Road Baptist] and its people with all my heart along with its theme under my Dad\u2019s and brother\u2019s leadership \u2018to love God and love people!'” Falwell\u00a0wrote.<\/p>\n Falwell did not appear to disengage himself from his faith, as a fundamentalist Christian, when he became involved in politics prior to the 2016 presidential elections.<\/p>\n Fundamentalist Christianity was originally designed to be independent from other belief systems.<\/p>\n Religion teaches that God is in control of all things, including politics. Therefore, a believer should not be involved in government affairs.<\/p>\n Falwell’s support for Donald Trump in his bid for presidency revealed that he had changed from a separatist belief where God has all the power to a new belief that individual actions are necessary to fulfill God’s will.<\/p>\n Falwell, however, said Politico<\/a>His father did the same thing at the time, in spite of his religious beliefs.<\/p>\n \u201cDad was always that way: who\u2019s the candidate that\u2019s best for this country? He was also a prominent figure on Old Time Gospel Hour and was a pastor at Thomas Road Baptist Church.<\/p>\n Falwell however completed his family’s history and revealed it to the world in 1987. He was a successful builder of bootlegging companies, filling stations and hotels as well as a nightclub.<\/p>\n Carey’s fate was changed in 1931, when he shot and killed his brother.<\/p>\n Falwell stated that Carey was never fully recovered, even though he had pleaded self defense.<\/p>\n Falwell stated that he began to drink excessively and died from cirrhosis in his liver in 1948.<\/p>\n The family was introduced to religion when Helen Beasley Falwell, Falwell’s grandmother turned on religious radio stations for her children. “the word”They slept in every Sunday.<\/p>\n \u2033His dad was an agnostic and his grandfather was an atheist,\u2033 Falwell told AP News. \u2033They were real wealthy and looked down on religion.\u2033<\/p>\n He said some of the family had become Christians, but most were not involved in religion, simply adding: \u2033They don\u2019t hate religion like dad\u2019s dad or dad\u2019s granddad did.”<\/p>\n When his father died, Falwell assumed the role of chancellor and president at Liberty University.
