Does it work?<\/p>\n<p>One of many Gen Zers who posted about this rumor is TikToker @han.walls. In her video, she poured a few ounces of Tito\u2019s vodka into her Brita filter just once. She then took a single sip of vodka and claimed that it only took one trip through her Brita filter to get rid of its smell and taste. She explained that this meant she was &#8220;aware&#8221; of the results. \u201cin trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"><\/figure>\n<p>According to Dr. ChrisPharmD (a fellow TikToker) vodka will not turn into water-like liquid without taste or smell if it is poured through a Brita filter once. But, you can get the effect if you go through it a few times more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Brita filter is not going to change how concentrated the alcohol is. It will change the taste and texture, and also the smell. It\u2019s definitely not going to make it taste like water, though.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"><\/figure>\n<p>The pharmacist wraps up his video by saying that if you\u2019re on a budget, running cheap vodka through a Brita filter a few times can make \u201cbad vodka taste not so bad.\u201dThis trick can be used with whiskey or gin, he said. However, he cautions that liquors containing congeners can give them their flavor.<\/p>\n<p>He warns you against mixing this with tequila. \u201cit\u2019s going to ruin it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bottom line, pouring cheap vodka through a Brita filter will mitigate the taste and smell\u2014and possibly make your hangover more tolerable. This trick is not supposed to make vodka taste like water.<\/p>\n<p>It also won\u2019t ruin your Brita, and you can use any type of vodka.
